In 2026, we were able to admit eight new children, ages 7 to 13, to the MCC children’s home. This was possible because spaces became available at the MCC after a large number of children successfully completed Junior Secondary school last school year and moved on to Senior Secondary schools in January. There, as is customary in Kenya, they are housed in boarding schools. They will continue to be cared for by our team and supported by their sponsors until they have completed Senior Secondary and subsequent vocational training or college. In this way, we can give these young people the chance to shape their own futures.
Our “newcomers” attend Maisha Mazuri Primary School. They’ve settled in well at the MCC and at their new school, and they help out with MCC routines—such as washing dishes together and caring for the chickens and rabbits—in small teams. They’ve made new friends in the MCC community and participate enthusiastically in all activities. They especially enjoy playing soccer together—and are eagerly following the World Cup on the caregivers’ cell phones!

In addition, a further child has been newly enrolled in the Maisha Mazuri partnership program; the child lives at home and, thanks to this support, is able to attend a specialized school.
With Hellen on site as an intern, we’ve also found a valuable ally who provides compassionate guidance to the children and supports our staff. She was part of the MCC herself as a girl, so she knows both sides! We are very proud that she decided to gain further experience with us after completing her training as a community worker.
We would like to thank all our sponsors and are delighted that we were able to welcome three new sponsors. Additional support is welcome to help our new kids on their journey toward a self-determined life!
