Summary 76th meeting of the active members May 2025

The 76th meeting of the active members of Hand in Hand for Kenya e.V. took place on May 1, 2025 in Gaimersheim near Ingolstadt – and we had visitors from Kenya!

The deputy principal of the Academy of Maisha Mazuri (AMM), Ariette, and Joseph, project manager and social worker at MCC, were in Germany and visited sponsors and schools. They told the students about life in Kenya and, above all, about the school system, which is very different from the German system with its strong focus on boarding schools. They also talked about the effects of climate change in Kenya and how they experience it at AMM and MCC.

Of course, Ariette and Joseph also came to Gaimersheim and were able to report first-hand on the current status of AMM and MCC and answer all questions regarding details and the children.

On this occasion, interviews were conducted with three applicants for an internship at the MCC, two of whom were on site, with the support of our Kenyan partners.

Afterwards, the general criteria for future internships were discussed based on past experiences.  Joseph contributed the MCC’s perspective, and the result is new key points that create more clarity for both sides.

In between and during the cold buffet, there was ample opportunity to exchange ideas, so that we are all up to date again.
