Independence through solar power – we need your support

The sun shines generously over Maisha Mazuri – and we are already using its power to provide light, water and clean drinking water. But our goal is even bigger: we want to make the Children Center and the Academy completely independent of the unreliable Kenyan power supply.

Power cuts are part of everyday life. Especially in rural areas, where the Maisha Mazuri Children Center and the Academy of Maisha Mazuri are located, the power supply is unstable, expensive and unreliable. But education, safety and a healthy diet need reliable energy.

What we need: powerful lithium batteries

Our existing solar system already supplies electricity – but without sufficient storage capacity, we can only use it during the day. For continuous operation of the school, boarding school, computer room, bakery and refrigerator, we need high-quality, long-lasting lithium batteries that make solar power available also overnight and in bad weather conditions.

These batteries:

  • supply light sources in classrooms and dormitories,
  • keep computers and technology permanently ready for use for lessons,
  • ensure the operation of our own bakery and its expansion, and
  • enable a cooling chain for food thus supporting healthy nutrition.

An investment in the future

Lithium batteries for the solar system are very expensive, also in Kenya. That is why we are currently applying for funding from foundations. Such funding, however, always requires an own contribution of 25%. A contribution that we cannot provide without help.

That is why we are asking you: Support us in this next step towards environmentally friendly independence! Every contribution counts – whether one-time or regular, whether as an individual, organization or company.

Thank you!
